AKC Eukanuba Dog Show - Long Beach, California

This probably doesn't really qualify as travel or a trail, but maybe it could qualify as a tale. Yesterday I went to my first ever dog show! It was a blast! My friend has two English Springers, so we went to see the Springer competition and then we planned to just walk around and see all the different breeds. As we were taking photos and watching the preliminaries to the Springer show, we started talking to a girl who was out with her friend from Washington DC. She was great and explained everything to us...how the judging worked, how they judged the dogs, etc. Her friend had a dog in the Springer group. His name was Peyton. Anyway...turns out that Peyton was the winner of the Springers!! He got Best in Breed. It was very exciting...especially since we had gotten to know Peyton, owner and friend, pre-show. Peyton will be featured in the Best of Show that will be aired on January 23rd, 2011.

This was a beautiful little female Springer. She was Paul's favorite. She couldn't stop wagging her little tail.
I fell in love with this cute little black and white female.
Another black and white Springer
And, the Best in Breed winner is.......Peyton! Congrats Peyton!
 Peyton looking cute and silly.
After the Springer show, we walked the whole show and saw so many amazing dogs! Here are a few of my favorites.
Sleepy Afghan
 Dogs with 'fros.
People walking around a course pretending to walk dogs. Hilarious!!
 Bulldogs
 Great Pyrenees
Basset Hound
 Silly Basset Hound
Beautiful Beagle
High-Fiving Beagle
Gorgeous Golden!
Black Flat-Coated Retriever
King Charles Spaniels
Santa Dachshund
Lassie. Okay, a Collie.
Border Collie
Brittany Spaniel
Boxer - Look at that face!
Posing for Pics - Such well-behaved dogs!
Got a little emotional at the Irish Setter area. My teenage and early twenty years were spent with Maggie May, a beautiful, sweet Irish Setter, whom I still miss to this day. She was my constant companion. Love you Maggie!
Sleepy Saint Bernard
This was the other dog that I just fell in love with! He is a Welsh Springer Spaniel. Isn't he gorgeous?

How cute are these little guys? Ran into them on our way out...had to unpack the camera for this one! Three Jack Russell pups! What a handful they must be!
Oh, it's the beauty dog, Boomer, waiting for us at Paul's house. Look at that beautiful face!
Oh look...there is Kris sporting a cool cap....with both beauty doggies...Boomer and Baxter!
