Day 2 - San Jacinto State Park

This was our second adventure on our Palm Desert week-long holiday. We decided to take the Palm Springs Tramway up to the top of the San Jacinto Mountains. I hadn't been up there in years...probably at least 20 or more. Anyway...I was a little nervous...just because I am not that crazy about heights, but I was completely fine. The transition through the 4 different stations was a teeny bit scary...a few bumps and then a pretty good sway, but I even started to enjoy that after the first time or two...a little adrenaline rush can be fun!

Took this photo just before we left to come back down the tram. I am just putting it first because I liked it. I took this in silhouette mode on my camera.
Up, up, up and up we went. It was a really smooth ride except for those transition towers where it got a  little bumpy and then a nice sway.
Our tramcar shadow on the side of the mountain.
We made it! Here we are a the top. The lady who took the photo was a bit unsure of how to use the camera..can you tell?
View of Palm Springs from the top!
There was a little bit of snow on top, but not much. If you look way down in the distance, you can see the water (and windmills) of a windmill farm outside of Palm Springs.
Two trees shaking hands? That's what my friend, Cathy, saw and decided to sit and paint it!
A mountain view .
Looking up at the sky through a big tree.
A cool piece of wood. What would you see if you looked though the hole?
A sign as you pass into the San Jacinto Wilderness area.
Another mountain view.
Cathy painting!
Another silhouette shot through the Jeffrey Pines.
After hiking for about 5 miles, we had a nice lunch (Cuban sandwich..yum) complete with a glass of wine, and then headed back down. The shadows on the mountains at this time of day were just incredible.

Painted hills.

Well, that was the end of our Day 2 adventure. A really fun day with perfect weather. Stay tuned for Day 3, 4 and 5!
